HBO received 81 Primetime Emmy® nominations, the most of any network for the 12th year in a row, for the upcoming 64th Primetime Emmy Awards®, which were announced yesterday in Los Angeles.

The prohibition drama starring Steve Buscemi “Boardwalk Empire” received 12 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Steve Buscemi) and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series (Tim Van Patten).

“Game of Thrones” followed shortly behind with 11 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Peter Dinklage).

The new comedy “Girls” that is broadcasting on Sky Atlantic from September has also been nominated for 5 awards including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Lena Dunham), Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Lena Dunham) and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Lena Dunham).

“Hemingway & Gellhorn” leads all HBO programming with 15 nominations in total, while “Curb Your Enthusiasm” received 5 nominations and “Veep” received 3.
